Floral Cadence by Nicki French

Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce

March 16 - May 15

Exhibition Story

NHAA, in collaboration with The Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce, is pleased to present Floral Cadence, a solo exhibition of intentional camera movement photographs by Nicki French, on view March 16 through May 15.

In Floral Cadence, French explores rhythm, repetition, and becoming through single-exposure intentional camera movement. Each image is created entirely in-camera against a field of black, where a single stem stands in quiet isolation. Through deliberate horizontal movement and long exposure, the bloom unfolds into measured visual echoes — not through layering, but through the unfolding of multiple moments within one continuous breath of exposure.

The number of stems corresponds directly to the number of temporal echoes captured within the single frame — one stem, one presence; two stems, a dialogue; three stems, a gathering. As the series expands, so does its rhythm. What appears as repetition is, in fact, time made visible.

At its heart, Floral Cadence is a meditation on growth — not as sudden transformation, but as gentle accumulation. Through restraint and repetition, each bloom becomes a measure in an unfolding visual score.

This exhibition features multiple works from the evolving series, inviting viewers to experience the progression of cadence from one bloom to the next. Visitors are encouraged to pause, look closely, and discover how a single exposure can hold more than one moment in time.

As the series continues to evolve, this exhibition offers an early glimpse into a growing meditation on rhythm and becoming.

Nicki French is a New Hampshire–based fine art photographic artist known for her nature-inspired imagery and experimental in-camera techniques.
