Who We Are and What We Do

The New Hampshire Art Association (NHAA) is a non-profit art association founded in 1940, and as such is the oldest statewide art association in New Hampshire and one of the oldest in the country. We have approximately 300 juried artist members representing a wide variety of visual arts mediums including: painting, photography, printmaking, sculpting, textile art, and mixed media. Our talented artists all live and work regionally throughout New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maine, and Vermont.

NHAA connects visual artists with the public through ongoing exhibits and educational activities to encourage appreciation for contemporary culture, foster creativity, and enhance community spirit. Our home base is the Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery in downtown Portsmouth where we are open year-round with new exhibits monthly. We also feature the largest selection of original artwork from regional artists in the Seacoast.

In addition we have exhibits in other locations such as the Sheafe Warehouse in Prescott Park, the League of NH Craftsmen Fair in Sunapee, and the Chamber of Commerce in Concord. We also run classes, demonstrations and workshops for our artists as well as the public.

Approximately twenty-five thousand people engage with NHAA through our activities each year.  We hope to see you sometime soon!
