Poetry After Hours
Meet Jezmina Von Thiele
Host Jezmina Von Thiele (they/she) is a writer, educator, performer, podcaster, and fortune teller of mixed Sinti Romani heritage. In June 2025, NHAA partnered with Jezmina to launch Poetry After Hours at the Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery. Since then, the bi-monthly series has welcomed poets, readers, and community members to gather in a warm, inclusive space for an evening of poetry, storytelling, and creative connection.
Readers, Ekphrastic Writing & Open Mic
Each Poetry After Hours event features readings by two invited poets, followed by an ekphrastic writing activity- inspired by the gallery's current exhibitions- and an open mic. The writing activity encourages participants to engage deeply with the artwork on view, while the open mic provides a welcoming space to share new work, find your voice, or perform for the first time.
“Poetry is always incorporating elements of music, visual arts, performance, and so on. Hosting this community arts program for free for the public in an inclusive gallery that has new artwork for every event is such a gift.”
-Jezmina Von Thiele
