Landscapes Near and Far Press Release | Concord Chamber November & December

NH Art Association landscape artist on exhibit at Concord Chamber

CONCORD – New Hampshire Art Association member Claudia Michael will be exhibiting her work at the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce during the months of November and December. The title of the show is “Landscapes Near and Far.”
Michael is a landscape painter, living in southern New Hampshire. Her work is informed by the contrast in color, light and form found in nature. Painting “en plein air” keeps her work spontaneous and in communion with her inspiration.
Michael is an award winning artist and art educator. She is the recipient of three Fulbright fellowships and has painted in several countries including Canada, Greece, Italy, Turkey, Cyprus, Costa Rica, China, Morocco and the U.S.
“I paint interpretations of color and light using elemental structures as they relate to the landscape,” Michael said. “While I strive for honesty, I allow an emotional response to influence what I know about painting the natural world.”
Michael’s visual narrative reflects the transient qualities of nature and the perception of beauty. The portrayal of the natural world in art has been a metaphor for the temporal existence of humanity since the early Renaissance. “My paintings are place specific yet are realizations of personal time and space,” she said. “My goal as a painter is to capture an essence and mood within the natural world that is personal yet universal.”
A signature member of the New England Watercolor Society, Michael exhibits her work widely in New Hampshire and her paintings have won numerous awards. She was recently selected, as an Artist in Residence at Arte Studio Ginestrelle in Italy where her work was shown in Assisi and Florence Her paintings are included in several private and corporate collections.
Michael is a senior lecturer with Granite State College, on the faculty of the New Hampshire Institute of Art and a consultant in Advanced Placement Studio Art for the College Board.

The Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibit runs Nov. 2 through Dec. 31.
The chamber is located at 49 South Main Street, Suite 104, Concord.
