My work combines layered corrugated cardboard with other materials in raised relief, finished with acrylic paint and tissue paper decoupage for added color and texture. After years of incorporating recycled materials into projects with my high school art students, I wanted to explore these ideas in my own practice. I create multi-panel designs, inspired by the striking impact of grouped student work on display. My series ‘LIFE RHYTHMS’ reflects themes of abundance, resilience, and the natural world, while my new series ‘EVIDENCE OF A HUMAN PRESENCE’ examines how we leave our mark on the environment. Artmaking, for me, is about inquiry, craftsmanship, and bringing concepts to life in a tangible, meaningful way. This mixed-media approach allows me to push beyond traditional surfaces, and I’m excited to continue developing this evolving body of work.
