Marsha Zavez

Marsha cannot remember a time when she wasn’t drawing or painting. Art is woven into her sense of self, and it is in the act of creating that she finds herself most at peace. She began her career painting loose still life’s, inspired by early works of Richard Diebenkorn and Raimonds Staprans. In recent years, she has been drawn to the local wildlife. Intrigued by their antics, she adds their imagined conversations, creating allegorical paintings that use humor to explore a human narrative. Her work often includes printed collage elements. Finding that perfect balance between paint, words and paper is both a thrill and a challenge.

Marsha earned her BFA and M. Ed at UNH and has taught visual art and drama at North Hampton School on the NH seacoast since 1999. Her work is shown at Valerie’s Gallery in Newburyport, MA and at juried shows, businesses, venues and in private collections throughout New England. In addition to the NHAA, she is a member of the Newburyport Art Association and the National Art Educators Association.
