Julie Cunningham is an artist and ceramics teacher living in Portland, Maine. She has a BFA in Ceramics from Maine College of Art and a BS from the University of New Hampshire. She is a Continuing Studies instructor at Maine College of Art and Design (MECA+D), on the teaching staff at Portland Pottery, and has been an adjunct professor at the University of New England, Southern Maine Community College, and MECA+D.

Her experience also includes offering workshops at various ceramics studios, and teaching children and adults through community and adult education programs. Time spent outdoors, while observing the changing hues, textures, and arrangements of nature inform her work. Her pieces are comprised of earthenware clay, terra sigillata, and layered low fire glazes. She works in her home studio and primarily uses hand building techniques to create her organic forms. Julie sells her work at several galleries in New England and participates in the Maine Pottery Tour. Member: Maine Crafts Association and New Hampshire Arts Association.
