Elaine Barrette
Fine art for Elaine has been a lifetime endeavor. She started with oil painting at a young age and went on to explore other mediums such as watercolor and pastel but over the years, oil painting was still her medium of choice. Her passion for the natural world has been a constant and using a simple design structure with brighter than life colors, she blends traditional realism with a contemporary impressionistic feeling, capturing the essence of her inspiration. In 2020 she discovered wool fiber as a new medium and creates 2-dimensional images with a 3-dimensional twist, incorporating the valuable lessons of the classical academic approach to painting.
Teaching art for over 35 years, she saw first-hand what the impact of drawing and painting can have on students’ lives, young and old. This led her to illustrating and publishing a book titled Harmonious Color Schemes; a no-nonsense approach using the Color Wheel. She supports the arts in a multitude of ways whether it is fine art, music, dance or theatre. She maintains a Studio in Hudson, NH and offers private instruction as well as group workshops.
