New Hampshire Art Association artist Ree Hall Katrak will be displaying her latest work in an exhibit titled, “Ree Katrak: New Work” at the Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery during the month of May.
In this exhibit Katrak included pieces that bring mark making into the foreground of the picture plane.
“My primary interest in these pieces is the notion of asemic writing,” she said. “An example of ‘asemic writing’ can be found in the texts that toddlers write before they can form words or even letters. Asemic writing is an expressive form of writing that can only be interpreted by the viewer with the tools of instinct, empathy, intuition, and emotion.”
