“New Hampshire Landscapes in Motion’
NHAA oil painter on exhibit at the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce
CONCORD - The Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce will host an exhibition of oil landscapes by Daryl D. Johnson titled “New Hampshire Landscapes in Motion,” Jan. 3 through March, 2019.
Described by Art New England magazine as “…gestural realist landscapes with the overall effect of speeding through layers of lighted space,” Johnson's oil paintings of landscapes are inspired by her motorcycle travels. The original oil paintings are awash with the energy of movement and nature with shifting patterns of water and rising transient clouds. “The views are familiar, but the subtext is the underlying chi, the sweeping momentum,” Johnson said describing her paintings. “The earth ‘breathes in and out’ with compositions of uplifting shapes.
These oils on canvas celebrate the vibration of the planet.” Johnson was born in Manhattan, grew up in NYC’s suburbs and moved to New Hampshire in 1988. Johnson has a BFA from Hope College in Holland, Michigan, and studied at the Vermont Studio School and The Art Students League of New York. Johnson’s paintings have won numerous awards and are in private and corporate collections throughout the world including Fidelity Investments, Delta Airlines and Pepsico. She is a juried member of the New Hampshire Art Association and maintains a studio in Amherst, New Hampshire.
The Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibit runs Jan. 3
through March 21. There will be an opening reception on Jan. 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. in conjunction with the New Hampshire Furniture Masters also on view at the Concord Chamber and the League of N.H. Craftsmen across the lobby.
