The Business of Art Series Workshop #4 Writing Bios & Artist Statements

 

This WORKSHOP is designed to help artists
promote themselves and their work by writing targeted, personalized
content for use on social media, in print publications or ads, and on
personal websites. Learn how to present yourself effectively in print and
online. Workshop leaders will help you focus on what potential buyers want
to know about you!
In this 90-minute workshop, we will discuss the pros and cons of using
Twitter, Instagram, and other platforms for promoting and/or selling
creative work, and look in depth at how bio blurbs and artist statements can
be individually tailored for each platform, event, or audience. Some artist
statements use humor. Others stress professional experience. Workshop
participants will have the opportunity to write drafts of their own short bio
and longer artist statement, after studying and discussing successful
examples of each, along with the elements that make them successful.

Please bring a notebook and pen, or a laptop, so that you’ll have something
to write on during the workshop. Limited to 45 participants.
