PORTSMOUTH – The New Hampshire Art Association will showcase the artwork of its members for the month of December with its “Deck the Walls” exhibit at the Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery.
This year, NHAA is participating in The Chamber Collaborative of Greater Portsmouth’s “Yuletide Nights Shoppers Delights” that is in partnership with Portsmouth’s 13th annual Vintage Christmas.
Each Friday in December from 4 to 7 p.m., participating downtown shops will feature special treats and gift-giving themes to celebrate the holiday season.
“We are excited to be participating for the first time in the Chamber Collaborative’s Yuletide Nights,” said Renee Giffroy, board president of the NHAA. “Artwork by our members in a variety of media is for sale at a wide range of price points, making it affordable for shoppers to purchase an original piece of art.”
The NHAA has close to 300 members with 31 new members juried in this year.
On Dec. 1, the Levy Gallery will combine the event, themed “Sip and Shop Night,” with its monthly Art Around Town open house, offering wine and hors d’oeurves.
On Dec. 8, the gallery will offer a warm beverage such as apple cider as it takes part in the “Welcome Strangers, Welcome Friends Night.”
The third Friday, Dec. 15, promises to be a fun adventure for shoppers as they visit participating shops for “White Christmas Selfie Stations Night.” Kelsey Price, assistant manager of the Levy Gallery will design what promises to be a “fun” selfie station for those stopping by.
Dec. 22 is the “Joy of Giving Night.” The NHAA is asking its members to bring in gloves, mittens, hats and other warm clothing – hoping for some handmade items. There will also be a box for cash collections for those items. These items will be donated to Operation Blessing.
Lisa McManus, NHAA board advisor will be on hand that evening to let shoppers know about the art association’s up-coming Gather and One Sky event in January.
“January is our month of giving,” Giffroy said. “The theme will be ‘Feed the Soul’. We have chosen Gather and One Sky as beneficiaries for that month.”
The final event of Yuletide Nights on Dec. 29, is “Shop for You Night,” after celebrating the holidays, it’s time to get something special for yourself.
