Landscapes Real and Imagined | Joe Flaherty & William Gotha | South Gallery
Two artists interpret the American Landscape with divergent styles.
What’s similar?What’s Different?
Joe Flaherty takes the elemental approach, creating images devoid of detail but soaked in vivid colors. Colors, contours, and textures are adjusted to strike the appropriate impact and harmony. What emerges is an unadorned view of the world which gladdens the eye and stimulates the mind.
William Gotha focuses on the light and emotion, with brushstrokes that only suggest detail. Strong compositions and colors capture the natural drama of New England. His color palettes are derived from each locale, paying equal attention to sunlit and shadow areas.
